Election day was yesterday and Senator Fred Akshar was reelected to New York State’s 52nd State Senate District. We had a chance to talk with Senator Akshar this morning, and he outlined some of his plans for his next term.
“We have to continue to fight against the heroin and opioid epidemic that is plaguing so many of our communities across the state,” he said via phone on his way to a meeting in Norwich. “My focus moving forward is going to be trying to create a better business climate in this state. We are working with the small business advisory council, taking a bottom up approach in the way that we do business, and trying to collectively come up with ways that we can make the business climate better in New York.”
Before the legislative session begins in January, Akshar plans to continue traveling across the four-county district and meeting with stakeholders on a variety of issues.
“Meeting with those folks and solidifying an aggressive legislative agenda so we can go back in January and produce tangible results for the people I represent.”
