The Greater Binghamton Airport will offer another daily flight to Detroit beginning next month. SkyWest Airlines, operating as Delta Connection from Greater Binghamton Airport to Detroit International Airport, will add an additional flight beginning in March. Broome County officials expect the demand to increase for a daily flight to Detroit, which has connections to 115 domestic and 19 international destinations. The new afternoon flight will start on March 1 on a 50-seat CRJ-200 operated by SkyWest. Flights can be booked at www.delta.com or by calling Delta at 800.221.1211. This additional flights will give SkyWest three daily connections between Binghamton and Detroit. Airport officials have also announced a major reconstruction of the primary runway to start in May that will fix pavement deterioration. The pending project will put restrictions on certain aircraft and disrupt some flights from the primary runway to secondary landing and takeoff locations at the airport in the Town of Maine. The rehabilitation project is expected to take a month to complete. Officials say the construction will position the airport to handle daily flights for the foreseeable future.
