Binghamton man pleads guilty to rape

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday that a Binghamton man pleaded guilty as a second felony offender to rape in the first degree in Broome County Court.

According to the district attorney’s office, Michael Gibson admitted to having sexual intercourse with a victim less than 13 years old in the summer of 2023.

Gibson will be back in court on May 10 where he is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in New York State Prison, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision.

The case was investigated by the Endicott Police Department with the assistance of the Crime Victims Assistance Center. Senior Assistant District Attorney Amanda Cronin prosecuted the case.
