The Broome County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a 45-year-old Binghamton man will spend more than a decade in state prison following a drug conviction.

Kareem R. Young has been sentenced to 11 years in New York State Prison followed by three years of post-release supervision after being found guilty as a second felony offender of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree by a Broome County jury in June.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit executed a narcotics search warrant on North Street in Binghamton in January. Young was found to be in possession of approximately one ounce of cocaine and implements of narcotics trafficking.
