The Binghamton Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Saturday.
When officers arrived on the scene in the area of Oak Street and Gerard Avenue, they located a 34-year-old Binghamton woman with a gunshot wound in her chest.
Officers collected several shell casings at the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and has been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
