Binghamton Police arrest 16-year-old for attempted murder

The Binghamton Police Department has announced the arrest of a teenager for attempted murder.

According to WBNG-TV, a Binghamton Police Officer was already on State Street on Sunday at around 2:30 a.m. to monitor the closing of bars when he saw a male fire two shots at an unknown person near Dillinger’s Bar.

Police said the shots were fired north in the direction of a large number of people on the sidewalk.

The 16-year-old suspect was later located on Hawley Street and was allegedly found with a Glock 42 .380 caliber handgun that was reported stolen out of Lexington, Kentucky.

Officers found three .380 caliber casings in the area of Dillinger’s and a utility pole in the area was struck by gunfire.

The suspect was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment.
