Arrest Made in Armed Robbery

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a City of Binghamton man following an investigation into the reported armed robbery at the Manley’s gas station located at 53 Downs Avenue in the Town of Dickinson Saturday evening. During the robbery the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded cigarettes and U.S. currency from the clerk. The suspect in the investigation is 26-year-old Chad Rinker who was observed in the City of Binghamton by Binghamton Police where he was detained, while members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office took Rinker into custody for questioning.
A search of Rinker’s apartment located the weapon displayed during the robbery as well as 43 packages of cigarettes which were taken from the store.  Rinker was arraigned in the Town of Dickinson Court and remanded to the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility without bail.  He’s charged with 1-Count of Robbery in the first degree, a class B Felony.
