The Broome County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a suspicious vehicle back in late June, and upon the driver showing a valid license under the name he provided, he was released. After his release, the deputy involved discovered that the driver’s real name was Daniel Lupold, of Binghamton, and he had impersonated a relative in an attempt to conceal the fact that he had over two dozen suspensions on his license.
Lupold was also found to be on felony probation for impersonating the same relative in the past. Shortly after 2 o’clock early this morning, a different deputy stopped a vehicle, and the driver gave the same alias. The original deputy arrived on the scene, recognized Lupold, and assisted in taking him into custody without incident. He is now facing two counts each of aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, and criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. He was sent to the Broome County jail without bail.
