A soldier with ties to the Southern Tier was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Brian David Riley Jr., 24, died Sunday in Kunar Province.
Riley lived in Binghamton and attended Binghamton High School until he relocated to Florida.
Riley was assigned to the 25th infantry division based in Hawaii.
He’s survived by his family, including relatives who still live in the Greater Binghamton area.
