On February 20th 2019 about 3:15 P.M. the Binghamton Police Department Patrol Division responded to a report of a
masked man with a gun entering the building at 56 Pine Street, Binghamton. The caller was an alert witness in the
general area of Pine Street. A heavy police response followed by the Binghamton Police Department, including; Patrol
Officers, a Canine Officer, the Community Response Team and Detectives. Patrol Officers apprehended one male
suspect at the scene and at least one other male suspect fled by foot just prior to police arrival; he escaped the area
without capture.
Investigation of the matter determined the incident was a drug-deal / armed robbery event. The investigation determined that Binghamton men arrived to the address and were attempting to follow through on arrangements to meet for purposes of sale / purchase of drugs at the vacant building location, at which time a robbery at gunpoint was committed by at least two males involved.
The detained suspect Kyle B. Adkins (23 years of age), 44 Fayette St., Binghamton, was charged with Robbery
Second Degree a Class C Felony. The second suspect male was masked and described as tall with a slender build,
wearing dark clothing. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported by the robbery victim or others. One replica
firearm air gun was recovered during the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and additional suspects are being
sought by Detectives at this hour. Adkins was held at Police Headquarters for court arraignment in Binghamton City Court.
