Broome County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of people using drugs in a vehicle at the park in Binghamton. Police found drug paraphernalia in plain sight upon reaching the vehicle, and spotted the man in the vehicle trying to conceal something under the driver’s seat. 21-year-old Michael Verry of Greene is accused of possessing drug paraphernalia, heroin, hypodermic needles filled with heroin, and several pills of Xanax. He was arrested following a brief struggle, resulting in charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest. He was sent to the Broome County Jail. The passenger in the car, 24-year-old Amber Halko of Oxford, is also facing charges for the drugs. She was ticketed and released.
