On Sunday, May 19 at 8:05 p.m., Binghamton Police Department Patrol Division Officers responded to a reported home invasion robbery at 80 Pennsylvania Ave., Apt. #1 in Binghamton. The investigation determined an adult female tenant was home with two children under 10 years of age, when two males arrived at the door identifying themselves as utility workers for a power issue. The suspects then forced entry into the apartment and physically assaulted the victim and bound her with duct-tape. The children were in another room and unharmed during the incident.
One suspect was brandishing a handgun during entry and the commission of the home invasion robbery. Property was stolen from the apartment by the suspects. The adult resident sustained minor injury of bruising and swelling. The suspects fled the location by foot and the immediate area by unknown means.
Suspects description: Both described as black males, early to mid-twenties, about 5’7″ and 5’10” tall, wearing all black clothing, orange colored construction safety type vests, white construction hard helmets and facial dust masks.
The investigation determined this event was not a random act but an intentionally targeted home invasion, targeting both the location and residents for specific purpose and property.
Responding Binghamton Police Officers and Detectives conducted an investigation, suspect search and search for evidence at the scene and surrounding. The crime scene was processed by the Binghamton Police Identification / Crime Scene Unit.
