The City of Binghamton has made $17,000 after the sale of 33 properties. Last month, the city sold the properties at auction and made $17,207 dollars from bidders. City Council reviewed the auction results at a meeting Monday night, before unanimously deciding to bring the bids to a future vote, which is the final step needed to finalize the sales. If approved, revenue from selling the properties, which consist mostly of vacant lots in various neighborhoods, would return to the city’s operating budget. The city will also benefit because they will no longer have to pay for maintenance to the properties. Most parcels of land sold for anywhere from $10 to $1,000, with future uses restricted to small structures such as storage sheds. Other lots allow various types of development, depending on the zoning laws.
