The Binghamton City School Board has approved a $96 million budget, which will result in about 48 positions cut from the district. School board members unanimously approved the budget Monday. Of the 48 positions cut, 20 of them will be through attrition. Twelve of the positions are teaching jobs. The district got about $440,000 more than originally expected in state aid, so officials say they were able to lower the property tax levy to 3.5 percent. The public will vote on the budget on May 17th.
