Binghamton is apparently close to again selling the Regency Hotel.
City officials held a short meeting Monday night to formally authorize the sale of the hotel, following an approval by the city council last week.
Mayor Matt Ryan says both steps are necessary before the city can sell the hotel.
He will not confirm if they have reached a deal to sell the Regency and an adjoining vacant lot on Washington Street.
Binghamton took over the hotel in April after the last buyer, NJDV Hospitality, went bankrupt in Oct. 2009.
