In celebration of the 60th anniversary of National Engineers Week, the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University will host a full day of programming for budding engineers on Saturday, Feb. 26.
The events, which are free and open to students of all ages, will run from 9 a.m – 4 p.m. in the Engineering Building.
Featured activities include a host of hands-on competitions, such as the popular spaghetti bridge competition, an air power vehicle design competition and an egg drop.
Attendees will also get to play and judge old arcade-style games such as Pong, Breakout or Tetris developed by Watson School students.
Attendees will be able to check out the Mini Baja and supermileage vehicles; and enjoy the perks of an ice cream and nitrogen demonstration.
“Keeping this innovative spirit alive and active begins long before students hit our campus,” said Krishnaswami (Hari) Srihari, dean of the Watson School.
“Our children are the scientific and entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow – and equally important, they are members of the next generation’s work force and indispensable to ensuring that New York remains a leader, both nationally and internationally.”
