More people flew out of the Greater Binghamton Airport in 2010 than the year before, according to the final numbers released by airport officials this week.
Commissioner of Aviation Carl Beardsley says passenger boardings at the county-owned airport jumped 10 percent last year, the 3rd largest percentage increase since 1984.
Beardsley says a rise in natural gas activities locally helped contribute to the hike as well as specials like a $99 flight to warmer destinations.
Three airlines fly out of BGM: Delta, United Express and U.S. Airways Express. Beardsley says Delta saw the biggest increase out of the three, as the number of people using their airline jumped 54 percent from 2009. The carrier added another daily roundtrip to Detroit.
