Brooklyn Teen Indicted In Binghamton Shooting

A grand jury has indicted a Brooklyn teen in connection with a recent shooting in Binghamton.
17-year-old Dajhoun Perez, was charged with assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities said Perez was involved in the shooting of 21-year-old Daquan Smith of Binghamton, back in June outside of a home on Roberts Street. Smith has been hospitalized and is expected to survive. Perez is being held without bail.
Indictments were also handed up in two recent robberies. A Johnson City man was charged with attempted robbery and attempted grand larceny in connection with the robbery of the M&T Bank on Exchange Street in Binghamton back in June. According to authorities, 24-year-old John DeSantis, attempted to steal approximately $4,700 from bank employees by threatening them with a knife.
Also back in June, police said Steven VanWinkle of Maine, New York stole money from the Hess Express on Glenwood by pretending to be armed with a knife. VanWinkle was charged with robbery in the third degree.
