The Broome County Sheriff’s office is investigating a messy rollover crash involving a tractor trailer. Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened around 2:40 Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 81 just north of Binghamton. They say a tractor trailer had rolled over on its side, spilling thousands of pounds of roofing trusses onto the road. Investigators say the flatbed trailer had shifted on a curve in the road. No one was injured in the crash, but the driver was issued a ticket for improperly securing the load. All northbound traffic was stopped for nearly two hours while crews cleared the tractor trailer and debris from the roadway. Investigators say the Prospect Mountain Project construction crew helped expedite the cleanup. One northbound lane remained closed Tuesday night while the cleanup effort continued.
