Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell says he doesn’t plan to file any charges against Binghamton City school personnel in connection to an alleged strip search incident in January. Some 12-year-old girls said they were allegedly strip searched
for drugs. The school has disputed that claim.

Cornell released a letter Thursdsy he sent to the school administration, in which he said neither the Binghamton Police Department or State Police have recommended any criminal charges be filed in this matter. Cornwell said he has reviewed their investigation, and he agrees, there is no basis for any criminal charges to be filed against any employee of the Binghamton City School District.

In its own statement Thursday, the Binghamton City School District said it appreciates the time and effort the District Attorney’s Office and members of law enforcement dedicated to reviewing the January 15th incident at East Middle School.
