A Binghamton man is in the hospital after his car went off the road and into a creek Monday.
Around 8pm, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office says a man in his early twenties was driving south on Hawleytown Road in the Town of Binghamton when he lost control of his vehicle. It hit a dirt embankment, went airborne and into the freezing creek.
Firefighters from the Town of Binghamton took nearly an hour to rescue the man, having to cut the roof and doors off the vehicle before hauling him to safety.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to Wilson Hospital with unknown injuries.
No one else was in the vehicle.
