City Police in Binghamton are now saying that Wednesday’s robbery at the Dollar General on Clinton Street is NOT connected to the recent string of robberies in the Binghamton and Johnson City area. Initial reports on the robbery said that the suspect in Wednesday’s incident did not match the description of the man, or men, that are suspects in the other robberies. Binghamton Police have said that the suspect in Wednesday’s robbery indicated that he had a handgun in his waistband, while the other robberies were all committed at knifepoint. Wednesday’s robber also was not wearing a ski mask, something the suspect in all of the other cases was wearing. Police say that Wednesday’s suspect is a white male, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and covered his face with a purple and white scarf. He fled west toward nearby railroads tracks following the robbery, which was reported around noon. The robbery marks the tenth in the city in recent weeks and at least the 15th in Broome County. Police are urging the public to stay alert as investigators look for suspects. In each incident, nobody was injured, and the suspect was able to flee with an unknown amount of cash.
