Dunkin’ Donuts announced yesterday that it will donate one pound of coffee to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier for every double play turned by the Binghamton Mets during the team’s 71 home games at NYSEG Stadium this season. The Dunkin’ Donuts Double Play community relations initiative is one element of a season-long partnership with the Mets that will include a number of fan initiatives at NYSEG Stadium in 2011. Each week, over 11,000 individuals visit a hunger-relief agency served by the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. In 2010, the Food Bank distributed nearly seven million pounds of food to neighbors in need across the six Southern Tier counties of Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins. In addition, NYSEG Stadium will be the site of Dunkin’ Donuts Night on August 7. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Dunkin’ Donuts “mystery” gift card. Fans can determine the value of each card by visiting area Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants.
