Extradition of Orlando Tercero Delayed by Violence in Nicaragua

The extradition of Orlando Tercero from Nicaragua remains in limbo. Tercero is alleged to have murdered his former girlfriend Haley Anderson on March 9th. Both were Binghamton University students. Tercero has been in custody in Nicaragua for over three months. The US Embassy in Managua says that the extreme level of violence in Nicaragua has disrupted normal civil processes. The US Embassy has had to close several times since the unrest broke out on April 18th. More than 160 people have died in the violence. The is currently no estimate on when the extradition will be heard in the courts.
