Electrical wiring is said to be the cause of a fire in Binghamton on Sunday. The call for the fire at 623 Park Avenue came in just before 1 o’clock in the afternoon Sunday, and departments from Binghamton, Conklin, Five Mile Point, Vestal, and Endwell all responded to the scene, with police and ambulance units also responding. Ten to fifteen fire trucks were on the scene of the fire, which began on the second floor of the home. By 1:30 Sunday the fire had subsided. Investigators determined that wiring in the ceiling of the kitchen sparked the flames, and the owners had mentioned issues of mice, which could have caused for the wiring issues. The investigation is now closed.
