Binghamton Fire Chief Daniel Thomas says six people escaped the burning building, but a teenage boy is dead.  Neighbors say they used a ladder to help some of the people out of the house.
Firefighters say half of the home’s roof has caved in.  The fire is now out, and the body of the boy was removed around 9:30 A.M.  Firefighters say the fire started on the porch of 20 Milford Street.  A second fire on Gaylord Street was reported shortly after.  Milford Street will remain closed for most of the day today.
“We’re still hitting pockets of fire, we had quite a collapse to the building itself. So it’s going to be awhile until we get a chance to interview the family members, any neighbors, be able to search through here to see if we can come with a cause,” Chief Daniel Thomas said.
