Five Arrested in Broome County Internet Prostitution 'Sting'

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force has arrested five women following a prostitution ‘sting’ operation.
Investigators have recently seen an increase in the amount of females soliciting customers through the website ‘backpage.com’.
Members of the Taskforce contacted the females advertising illegal activities and set up meetings between the females and undercover officers.
Arrested were Mary Hayhurst, 35, Charise Shaw, 29, Jessica Bennett, 28, all of Binghamton, and Deanna Olmstead, 22, of Windsor.
A fifth woman was not identified.
Bennett was charged with an additional count of Endangering the welfare of a child.
She brought a fifteen year old female who was also engaging in prostitution activities at the direction of Bennett.
The fifteen year old was released to her parents and will be petitioned into family court.
All parties arrested by the Taskforce were issued appearance tickets to the Town of Dickinson Court at a later date.
