A former Binghamton University basketball player was in court Thursday.
DJ Rivera is facing charges in Broome County Court for allegedly stealing a debit card and using it to purchase clothes, a television and condoms.
Rivera’s attorney has asked to be removed as counsel, saying that the two can not come to an agreement on what direction their defense should go. The former BU basketball player has a chance to request a new attorney before a preliminary hearing next month.
Rivera starred for the 2008 America East Champion team that also appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Kevin Broadus dismissed him along with five other players in October of that year.
