Jury selection is finished in the trial of a Binghamton man charged with trying to kill his girlfriend.
53-year-old Ralph Townsend is charged with attempted murder. He’s on trial in Broome County Court. In August 2012, Binghamton police found Townsend on top of his girlfriend stabbing her.
They forced their way into the apartment at 6 Miles Street and shot Townsend twice in the back.
His girlfriend was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and survived. Townsend is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault. Opening statements are set to begin today.
