A Broome County Grand Jury handed up a five-count indictment Friday against Wilfredo Pica-Torres, 45, of Binghamton, for second-degree murder and first-degree arson related to February 9 incident on Walnut Street in the City of Binghamton. Pica-Torres was also charged in the indictment with attempted murder and two counts of second-degree arson.
According to the indictment, Pica-Torres did intentionally cause a fire to a building located at 109 Walnut St., Binghamton, and such fire caused the death of Victor Banayan, 61, according to a news release from the Broome County District Attorney’s Office. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
