Jurors found Maurice Anthony guilty of all charges in the 2010 shooting death of 21-year-old Eric Dantzler of Binghamton. Dantzler was shot in his vehicle on Corliss Avenue in Johnson City. Maurice Anthony sat stone-faced and emotionless in Broome County court as all 12 jurors said he was guilty of murder. Jurors reached their decision around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. They deliberated for nearly eight hours over the course of two days. Jurors asked to have witness testimony read back to them and asked the judge to re-explain Anthony’s charges. They convicted him on one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted robbery. Dantzler’s family sat through more than a week of testimony and deliberations. They let out a heavy sigh of relief once the verdict was read. Dantzler’s mother said she’s reminded of her son’s murder every day. Anthony is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18. He has 30 days to file an appeal.
