Michael Roque was arraigned yesterday in Broome County Court on a second degree murder charge in the stabbing of Binghamton University freshman Joao Souza. Roque entered a plea of not guilty. Officials have said that Souza was targeted, but that second degree murder is the most serious charge available to prosecutors. Officials have not revealed the motive behind the homicide. The trial is expected to begin on September 17th.
