Missing 72-Year Old Binghamton Woman Found Dead in Susquehanna River

On Saturday at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Binghamton Police Patrol Division responded to the area of the deadend of Avon Road for a report of a body in the Susquehanna River. Upon arrival, it was determined that a resident of the area had been walking along the river bank between Avon Road and Laurel Avenue and discovered a body. Binghamton Fire Department responded and recovered the body.

During an autopsy, the body was identified as Susan Wayman, 72 years old, of Binghamton, who was originally reported missing to the Binghamton police on January 27. Police said Wayman’s death was non-criminal in nature.

Wayman was last seen on January 27 outside of 290 Front St., Binghamton. Police said she had a history of health concerns. At the time, police said Wayman was known to frequent the area of Main Street in Binghamton. She usually was seen walking in the area.
