A life-sized statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was unveiled in Binghamton Wednesday.
The bronze statue is standing along the city’s River Trail just north of the Court Street Bridge. It is part of the Peacemakers Stage, which includes plaques with information and quotations from 20 other peacemakers like Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
Binghamton’s Martin Luther King, Jr. commission raised more than $30,000 for the statue and the stage. It is the latest of several improvements along the River Trial, including new landscaping, trees, railings, benches and a renovated patio.
