A local non-profit has an extra $2,000 to play with, thanks to the efforts of some students at BU.
Mom’s House of Endicott was awarded the cash prize as part of a program where college students team up with local organizations and help them develop their business plans.
Mom’s House helps single parents have a chance to go back to school and further their education. They plan to use the winnings to implement some of the suggestions that the students gave them, especially marketing ideas.
“When we came in here, we didn’t really want to mess with their goals or their vision or anything like that, it’s all set up. I think that’s what made our group successful is that a lot of the recommendations that we brought to them are feasible,” said BU student Josh Sailar.
“It was fun to work with them and they were very motivated. I was so impressed with the students and how hard they worked,” said Laura Bowen, Executive Director of Mom’s House.
The course is sponsored by Manley’s Mighty Mart. That’s also who provided the $2,000 award.
