Murder trial of Almond Upton continues today

Day two of testimony was held in the murder trial of Almond Upton yesterday. Upton is accused of intentionally striking and killing a New York State Trooper with his vehicle in 2014. Seven New York State Police investigators who have been involved in the investigation took to the stand. New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Expert, Travis Webster, took to the stand for the second time, saying that Upton was travelling approximately 93 MPH when he hit New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner.

 

Testimony was also given by NYSP Motor Equipment Mechanic Jeremy Hilton. Hilton says that Upton’s Vehicle was inspected the day after the incident, and that there were no issues with the vehicle’s steering, acceleration, braking, or suspension systems prior to the crash. A total of eight individuals have taken to the stand for the prosecution thus far in the trial. The trial will continue today in Broome County Court.
