The murder trial of Aaron Powell began on Monday in Broome County Court, and some new details were revealed by the prosecution. Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen noted on Monday that the night before they were killed, Christina Powell and Mario Masciarelli had gone on a date and spent over two hours at the Airport Inn in the Town of Maine. Mollen also said that Aaron Powell had been peering through the windows of the inn looking for them, which was captured on security video stills. Powell allegedly also mentioned during a lengthy phone conversation with a friend that night that he had been looking for Christina. Both Christina Powell and Masciarelli were beaten and killed on March 22, 2013. Aaron Powell has pleaded not guilty to causing both deaths and chose not to appear in court for the trial.
