Two residents were inside a home in Binghamton when the top floor caught fire yesterday. Crews were called to 5 Burr Ave. at approximately 1:30 for a structure fire. Binghamton firefighters said all residents made it out of the house safely. Firefighters experienced a brief set-back when they found one of the street’s fire hydrants wasn’t working. Officials said they were able to supply water from another hydrant and knocked the flames down within twenty minutes. The building suffered heavy structural damage. Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
