Senator Charles Schumer has written the US State Department to urge them to make every effort to bring back Orlando Tercero to Binghamton. Schumer wrote Acting US Secretary of State John Sullivan asking that his department do everything in its power to extradite Tercero for the murder of BU nursing student Haley Anderson. Tercero fled the United states for Nicaragua before Ms. Anderson was discovered. He is currently in custody. The next step is an indictment by a Broome County grand jury. A warrant for his arrest will then be issued. The State Department will then handle the extradition request.
