The Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment plant got good news from FEMA: the plant will be getting $4.3 million dollars in federal aid for flood repairs–but it’s for the 2006 flood damages. Board members said it took so long for the money to come through, that the funds could be used for 2011 flood repairs. Monday night, lawmakers met to discuss where to apply the FEMA aid. The plant hasn’t been fully operational since floodwaters ruined electrical equipment. A wide range of work is needed, not just for flood repairs but also to deal with the section of a wall that collapsed in May of 2011.
