SUNY Broome is one of only three colleges across New York to win grant money through a state program designed to encourage students to build and implement energy-efficient systems.
SUNY Broome will receive $1 million dollars to put towards a geothermal heating and cooling system on the college campus.
The system was designed and will be built in part by students themselves.
The other winning schools include Barge College and University at Buffalo.
