State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher has announced that she has recommended Interim President C. Peter Magrath be named president of Binghamton University for a term that will run through December 31, 2011.
The appointment will go before the SUNY Board of Trustees for confirmation at a special meeting in April.
“I am grateful to Dr. Magrath for his ongoing service as interim president of Binghamton University and for agreeing to stay on beyond his anticipated time frame while we continue to conduct a search for his successor,” said Chancellor Zimpher.
Magrath, a former senior presidential advisor for The College Board and a past president of Binghamton University from 1972 to 1974, took office as interim president on July 1, 2010.
