Lawyers in the legal battle of local residents against IBM will meet Wednesday with a state Supreme Court judge to set up how a trial will proceed.
The company is being blamed for TCE pollution in Endicott and Union. Around 960 people, businesses and organizations have signed onto the lawsuits, which allege that chemicals leaked from the former IBM plant on North Street. That contamination allegedly damaged property values, caused illnesses, deaths and may lead to future sickness, according to the claims.
Wednesday’s meeting will be held in Binghamton. It will set the parameters for the trial, which is not expected to start until early 2012.
Depositions of IBM employees are already underway and lawyers say they are planning on securing expert witnesses next year.
