A Binghamton high school student is facing two felonies, accused of fighting with police officers at the school Monday during a dispute.
16-year-old Gabriel Gonzalez has been charged with two counts of felony assault, a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.
Police say Gonzalez was having a verbal disagreement with another student, who was not identified, at the school around 11:30am. School administrators quickly stepped in between the two students, who were apparently discussing someone allegedly breaking a window at another student’s residence over the holidays.
Police say the two students became “insubordinate” with police officers called to the school to help end the dispute.
The other teen was also taken into custody but is not facing the same charges as Gonzalez. Neither officer was injured.
