Residents, students, and children are to thank for a new addition to a park in Binghamton.
Tuesday evening officials cut the ribbon on a new jungle gym at the Walnut Street Park.
The site once served as a gravel parking lot, but when the property went up for sale, a local resident bought it and donated it to the city. Community members then teamed up with Binghamton University students to install a swing set, mural, and now the jungle gym. Some local children in also helped workers move more than 75 yards of mulch as the project was wrapping up last Friday, so they could begin playing on the new equipment as soon as possible.
