Woman Shot by Husband Plans to Sue City

A woman who survived being shot six times by her husband in October says she is now suing the City of Binghamton.
Kimberly Carpenter claims that the city contributed to the severity of her injuries by failing to maintain the lighting in the parking lot where she was shot in Saratoga Heights. The Binghamton Housing Authority runs the apartment complex.
Carpenter says she did not see her husband running at her until it was too late. She is now paralyzed.
Her attorney, Ronald Benjamin, says he hopes that Binghamton compensates Carpenter for her injuries.
The city declined to comment, saying they have received no notice of a lawsuit.
