Stephen Yanchus scored a career-high 35 points to lead the Owego boys’ basketball team to a 75-65 win over Susquehanna Valley Tuesday night.
Only five players scored for Owego, including 13 each from Mark Merritt and Matt Warchocki along with 11 from Robbie Black.
Brendon Normile scored 25 points for the Sabers, who went 22-for-25 at the free throw line.

Johnson City dropped their first game of the season, 66-63 to Norwich, in a battle of STAC Central Division unbeatens. Ryan Clark led the Wildcats with 20 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks.
Binghamton held on for a 49-48 win over Vestal. Chris Bowe had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Bears.
In the IAC, Candor beat Newark Valley 61-56 and Spencer-Van Etten handed Tioga a 69-52 loss.
In college basketball, Binghamton University lost 61-56 to St. Peter’s College at the Events Center Tuesday. The Bearcats are 3-7 on the year.
