Even with election season months away, some local politicians are making their initial push for office early. Broome County-based attorney Gene Faughnan announced his candidacy last night for the open New York State Supreme Court seat. Faughnan made the announcement at the Traditions at the Glen in Johnson City. He received his law degree from Syracuse University and currently serves as the Broome County Elections Commissioner. He says his goals if elected would be to make the right decisions and remain humble. Faughnan is looking to replace Judge Robert Rose, who reached the mandatory retirement age.
