Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti has announced a $25,000 grant to support the Astor D. Rice Foundation’s Family and Community Engagement program.

This funding will allow the program to extend their services beyond the 20-25 students directly involved in the FACE Program and will enhance essential resources for students and their families at Binghamton East Middle School, promoting their academic and social development during their critical formative years.

The FACE Program focuses on providing proactive assistance through mentoring, educational resources, and community involvement.

According to the DA’s office, research shows that when children and families receive this type of support, they are significantly less likely to become involved in criminal activities. Early intervention is key, as it helps identify and address underlying issues such as poverty, complex family dynamics, and mental health challenges.

Additionally, the FACE program is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of families, recognizing that the success of students is closely linked to the support they receive at home.
