The topic of illegal drug use is once again entering into local political debates. Most recently, Republican candidate for Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced one way to finance addiction treatment programs. Cornwell noted in his plan that there are a number of cars seized by the county currently sitting in storage which could be sold to help aid in the county’s fight against the heroin epidemic. Cornwell is running against Democratic candidate Gerald Mollen for Broome County District Attorney.
